Good Monday morning everyone! Hope you had a fine weekend.

This whole week, we celebrate Band Milestones kicking off today's show of with: GETTING SIGNED!

With the way things have been going in the last few years, it seems like this new decade is going to be a pretty good one for music. My guess is there will continue to be lots of new artists to discover, lots of shows to go see, lots of albums to listen to.

Though the money might not be rolling in from actual CD sales, there's still a lot more tools available to independent artists than ever before for creating and promoting music - and that's a good thing.

So it's interesting that even in this day and age of artist independence, "getting signed" is still a big deal. I'm not totally surprised - it IS a big deal actually. Record labels still have the power to break artists. And these days there are a lot of cool, small independent labels our there, so getting signed doesn't have to mean selling your soul to the big coorporation.

Getting signed is definitely a milestone for a band, and today we'll play some newly signed bands. And we want to hear from you too...

WHAT'S THE BIGGEST MILESTONE YOU'VE REACHED IN YOUR LIFE? What event changed everything for you? A trip to India? A new job? What milestone(s) are you hoping to reach?

Creating life.

That was a game breaker. Not only did it change every aspect of my own life, it improved how I see the world.

Being completely responsible for someone else, more so than a significant other, is both the biggest responsibility you can take on, and the most rewarding job you can do.

Better than anything I'll ever get paid for.

I don't want to outshine TB3 here but...

...I once bought a corduroy jacket at a Goodwill for 99 cents that had a mint in the pocket.

I got expelled.

It is a true story though, bought it 9 years ago and kept the jacket and mint to prove my story when I tell it to strangers.

That Goodwill is like shooting fish in a barrel. Because of the shelter being so close by, the burb and hipster kids steer clear of there, because of the amount of undesirables folk that hangout on the streets nearby, that might accost them. So it's not as picked over as other locations.

I'm still pretty darned proud of my $7 old school pre Mad Men era, wood office chair, complete with 55lbs of cast iron that makes up the base. There were no mints on board, but I will bet some of the asses that have nuzzled the bum cupping on the seat, have found their way onto a photocopier or two.

It's more like 7.5 children now. The slowest one got his legs caught under street sweeper last spring. Thankfully, he was drunk on his homemade tomato ale and didn't feel a thing.

@daa1982 - I can also tie one of my shoes thank you very much. Now if only I could figure out the other one.

I believe the mint was already pre-enjoyed and then re-wrapped in it's own wrapper...hence I am reluctant to eat it.

...but I'd have to say playing getting selected to play the Canadian Music Cafe at TIFF. That's when everything really started "happening," so to speak.
