the second hour for his album!  :(  that's the hour I'm gone!  woe is me!

I'm very excited.  If the question is "Does Owen have a coffee" the answer would be yes.

I've anticipated this show as much as the Bucky's, and Searchlight. Combined.

Owen is playing The Aeolian Hall in late February and I am one million times stoked about that show, in that venue, and the chance to meet the guy.

And now I am gonna shush and listen.

The copies you're giving away - they're vinyl yes?

Is he happy I allowed him to use my birthday for his, 8 years later?

We share birthdays as Brendan Canning or Kevin Drew (can't remember which).

I think the first I heard of him was in Arcade Fire, but then I soon realized he had played in a friends band earlier - Picastro!  Liz at the beginning had hired many of my friends in the band Pecola to accompany her, on guitar, and I think Zak from Pecola had played with her when Owen was also part of the group.

Can't wait to hear the whole album.

I'm not a huge fan of the Arcade Fire (yup) but I love this song.

There are two albums that I footnote as my getting interested* in music again in or around 2005ish…

They are Funeral and Broken Social Scene's s/t last album.

I am a pretty huge fan of both bands as a result.

*By "interested" I mean with the same level that I comment around these parts. Think ravenous, with a mild case of obsessed.

Now the question is: Was I quick enough with my answer...

Today was marked on my iCal as "Owen Pallett Day."

Sadly, when I went to my local record shop, they didn't have "Heartland" on vinyl OR cd.  Thankfully, he's coming here later in Feb.

I'm so excited for this show!

Enough to finially ditch school work for a while.

The darn skytrain got held up during my commute to work so I missed 35mins more of TCNH than I normallly would....blarg.

Heartland has a nice review/brief writeup in today's metro. (Woodpigeon does too, with the review saying "If there's one Canadian band to watch out this year it is Calgary's Woodpigeon")

I guess I know what I'll be picking up on my way home this afternoon.

Owen is playing in London in febuary!!!  I'm taking my 9 yr old boy.  It is going to be his first Concert!  :)

lucky kid! Should be a great time.

This is all so theatrical.  I just can't get over how expansive the work is.

What venue will Owen be playing at? I hope it's my all time favorite Venue(call the office), I know most hate it there..I just have a crush on how small it is, and it brings back good memories...believe it or not.  I treat myself to  Birthday Show In Feb. So I am really happy that's when he will be playing.

I'm glad that you like the tech stuff. I'm striving to keep it "not nerdy". Owen and I both come from classical-style musical backgrounds, so we can tend to veer a bit...although that's actually more while the songs are playing!

The Aeolian Hall.

I'm back, and it looks like I get to hear the last two songs!  Is there any hope ever of them being repeated or posted?  really all I'm interested in is the commentary, because I'm sure I'll own the album soon...

The pictures are up at The Guild here in Charlottetown, and I'm pretty happy with how they turned out.  :)  Anyone in Charlottetown the next couple weeks should swing by, there's already lots of other cool stuff to see as well.  And it's free!

He's playing The Aeolian Hall. February 25th. If you don't know the venue, you should. It is where the Great Lake Swimmers recorded Ongiara. And it's rated in the top 10 for its accousitics in Canada.

As much as I love CTO, and its intimacy, you will see when get their, that this place has intimacy too. And for an artist like Owen, the perfect place for him to play.

I've seen Owen play twice in London, and I can tell you in the only other place in London that suits him – under the stars of a late September evening at the bandshell in Victoria Park downtown. As part of LOLA.

Hyperbole aside, I expect this show at the Aeolian to eclipse those two. 

I'm missing it. Stupid work being all busy and junk. Now i gotta leave again.   D:

I know about the Aeolian. Because tb3 makes sure that those on the blog do. I think the first mention of the place that I remember would have been from his listener co-host show...Next time I'm in that neck of the woods trying to see something there is definitely on my list

Well looks like I've missed, and will continue to miss, one of the best shows ever.

And judging by Sucka's judging of the comments, I'm super glad that I pre-emptively ordered that vinyl.  Sidenote: I have a 7" that Owen put out that a friend "borrowed".  I must get that back immediately, Dustin, if you are listening. 

And if you're in Sarnia, you should know the hole of a town I grew up in: Wallaceburg.

If you knew how much time I spent as a teen in Lambton Mall you'd be embarrassed for me. Coincidentally, is Giant Thumb Pizza still there?

When you switch them use a wipe and get the dust of the spindles.

That's weird.  Are you sure it's the right size belt?  Turntableneedles.com has a database where you can look up what belt size you need.

Pretty sure I purchased it from LP gear for about $15 and it is supposed to be the right size. If it wasn't I would assume that it would not sound proper on the 33 setting and you can tell when they aren't cause it sounds laggish or a bit fast. And it sounds perfect on the 33 setting. I think the arm that controls the belt position might not be quite right,

Oh, the joys of older equipment.

Mine is missing 3/4 of the anti-skate mechanism, which is kind of worrying, but it seems to work anyways.

I miss Vish.  It is much easier to win things on his show.

I'm sad I missed the track-by-track. Will it be posted? I'd very much like to listen to it.

Well, one of the missing parts has been replaced by a button on a loop of thread, and there's still one other part remaining.  So it's not like I have no anti-skate.

Just not much.

I do like the idea that it is unnecessary.  I think I will, as you suggest, subscribe to that view.

Maybe.

Currently, since I'm moving in February, my plan is to write a concept album about things I throw away while packing, titled either "Things I Threw Away While Packing" or "Things I Left".

So Premature Retrospective kind of works.

On the other hand, it would make a good album title, too.  Hmmm.

If you have to take about 3 hours to decompress, do yourself a favour and check it out, particularly as inspiration for your album.  If your schedule does not permit, do it as soon as you possibly can.....seriously.
