Hey Everybody. How are all you CBCRadio3 listeners on this fine morning? I hope you’re as pepped up as me. I can’t believe that I’m co-hosting with the one and only Craig Norris. But before I get too far ahead of myself, I’m Nick Peppiatt, aka nickdane. I was never really one for introductions, but I guess the most important things you should know about me are: a) I’m a Miltonite (amazing, I know), b) I like to dance. Not real dance like a Foxtrot, but just bopping and getting in the groove at shows and such, and c) I like brie cheese. I know, I know, gouda is a favourite of many, and old cheddar has a taste like no other, but an avocado-brie sandwich for lunch is wicked satisfying.

Where to start, where to start…Oh, I don’t know if you all remember the first time you got into CBC Radio 3 was, but mine was when I was in my first year attending Uni in Waterloo, and my don Mike Little (also a huge CBC 3 fan) told me about this podcast hosted by Grant Lawrence. After D/Lin’ and listening to my first indie-infused podcast, first podcast ever really, I started an enduring love affair that has lasted through the ages…well…it’s been going on for about 4 years now at least, and it seems like Radio 3 just keeps getting better and better. I mean, internal playlists and direct link to buy tracks, you can’t get much more awesome and user-friendly than that. But I am keen on seeing what the future has in store.

Seems like these days, the main thing that helps me get through the day is waiting in anticipation for new concerts and festivals. I feel like I owe a huge debt to Radio 3 because if I didn’t listen so much, I wouldn’t really know about all the amazingly cool new bands that Canada has to offer. As per festivals, I’m really looking forward to Hillside Inside next week. Like OMG it’s going to be awesome. I’ve been to a few Hillsides (summer included) and I’ve never experienced anything quite like it. A community of artists, musicians, and music lovers congregating to shows that are as fun as they are intimate. Sam Roberts even came to the equipment shuttle where I was volunteering and just chilled around talking to everybody present, thanking everyone for coming and watching the acts. I highly recommend.

I really hope you enjoy the stellar music on today’s show. We’ve got an all-star collection of artists including King Khan and the BBQ Show + the Shrines, The Darcys, Plants and Animals, Black Hat Brigade, Handsome Furs, The Bicycles and many, many more.  I’m sure there will be a few songs that will give you earworms for days to come.

On the topic of finding out about CBC, my question for the day is: Who or what got you hooked on CBC Radio 3? Was it word of mouth? Did an iPod fall into your lap and not knowing what to do, put on the headphones and just pressed play to hear a CBC podcast? Or did a friend of yours blast into your room one day shouting at you to listen to this program called Radio 3 or else the world would implode? Well, maybe not implode, but change your life in ways you can’t imagine?

Enjoy  ;)
