Just let me know... I'm in the area and have a fairly flexible schedule.

Is it me, or is 2010 an amazing year for new records? Seems like everyone that I love is touring and/or releasing a new record. Also, March seems to be the month where everything is happening.... it's insane. My heart won't stop pumping.... wait... that's probably a good thing right? 

I know I was quite excited to read that this morning too!

They also got a brand new website.

Yeah I know it is, but then I start thinking about what may have been done to bulk in my absence. It raises a level of paranoia in me that I am not comfortable with. 

I think buying bulk requires a big leap of faith in people.

ya, actually, I had a friend who worked at one Bulk Barn... and she's told me what to stay away from... but now i forget... something about rats lol. gosh that doesn't help your paranoia does it? Just go for the more popular items, and you'll be fine :)

Ironic that you can actually pick up the Slow Clap from envelopes.

Paul Quarrington, Canadian writer, has just died of cancer.

relevant to this blog because Craig once posted a link to Paul Quarrington's blog or column, detailing his fight with cancer, which was incredibly human and moving.

I'm so sorry to hear this.

Very sad news. 

Very sad indeed.

What isn't sad is the inspiration he served to me when you originally linked the story about how he despite being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, he didn't crawl into bed ad waited to die. He went out embraced what he could out of life.

It reminded me of the piece that Vish did on CFRU about that Canadian composer who given the same sort of cancer prognosis got to work finishing up the music that had been left unfinished.

I am humbled and inspired by these people who in the face of the most terrifying and prematurely shortened journeys, are able to squeeze out of life every last bit of the miracle and beauty they can.

And that makes me proud to be humbled in that way.

I'd lend you my copy, but I bought it through iTunes. So it digitally resides on my AppleTV. Perhaps I should host a hot doc movie night? :)

I will be on the hunt for that doc now. I have a list of movies and records that I keep in my wallet to reference when I am out and looking for music/movies. You know those times when you are out and trying to remember what that album/movie was called? Well, the list aids in that frustration if you can remember that you have the list. Ever since my Son was born I swear I have half a brain now...it really is becoming a problem :) I have lists to remember that I have lists. Friends find this humorous.

We should all just move in together and pay 1/n of the rent each. n is of course the number of bloggers.

I have borrowed heavily against that deep freeze, things are tight.  If I get an addition of an old washing machine drum we should all be able to fit.

It wouldn't be so cold in the deep freeze if you would unplug it during the winter.

I'm unsure why you stole  hired that Asian man to "borrow" a generator from the Bulk Barn to get power under the bridge.  Last I checked, the only things you had plugged in was that deep freeze and your 50" plasma TV set to the Burning Wood backdrop.

If you unplug it then where is daa1982 going to store all his No Name brand fish sticks?

Seriously you can't just leave them in the snowbank! Birds love those tasty bastards, trust me I know.

The best doc I've watched lately is "It Might Get Loud," a doc about guitars/music with Jack White, The Edge, and Jimmy Page.

I really want to to see that! It's been on my to do list but I haven't gotten around to it yet. 

I'd like to see that one as well.

But when I was in NZ they use that term 'partner' more than boyfriend/girlfriend/fiance..etc. "oh you should meet John's partner". Everyone uses it. For awhile I just thought everyone was gay, but I like it. It's a good description of what a relationship should be.

The version of Windowsill that Win and Régine do on the elevator is really cool as well as the version of Neon Bible done by the full band in the elevator where the percussion is done by ripping pages from a magazine.

It also resides digitally on the AppleTV, RedVinyl and I'll add it to the Hot Doc Movie Night :)

Stupid massive work project....first time checking in today.  Howdy!

Craig ~ Thanx for the heads up on Paul......what a great guy.  Back in the early 90's, he did a book signing right around Christmas in Brantford, ON, where I happened to be living at the time.  I rolled in with my armload of his books to have him sign and, lo and behold, he and I were the only ones in the place (next to the owner, who was also a great guy).  Anyway, Paul, the bookshop owner and I sat down and chatted his books, other author's books, music, life, death (as we envisioned it at the time) for awhile until the shop owner had the idea that we should be discussing all this over rum and egg nog.....which he just happened to have an abundance of in the back of the store.  Things got really interesting from there, and we all spent the day, occasionally dispelling the casual customer, and moved well on into the evening.  One of the most interesting days of my life.

Ironically, I just finished re-reading for the umpteenth time his book Home Game (arguably the best book ever written) last night....it gave me a little chill to hear of his passing today.  RIP, Paul Quarrington.  If you have not read him, do yourself a favour......

My sister has a partner because he is not her boyfriend and not her husband and they live together. I call him my brother in-law because well they are basically married without having the government involved and it gets confusing trying to refer to him in a different manner.  Maybe I should call him my brother without-law.

OK, I went away for a bit and am trying to catch up,  Is someone marrying a cat??

that's what I'm doing right now!  That's why i was able to do that vocal so quickly, I was tweaking my own stuff yesterday in full record mode.

My pleasure....it was cathartic for me to lay it down.  He was an amazing tour de force of creativity, who possessed a love of Canadiana often displayed in his work.  Seriously, if you are not familiar with his books and particularly if you have a sense of humour, pick him up.  The guy was brilliant.

I prefer to call it "Sexercise Buddy". Sounds way more offish, and alludes to the real nature of these relationships.

Are we still talking about a blender?
