Is it just me, or was that one hell of a busy weekend?
Starting Friday night with the inspiring Canada For Haiti and Hope For Haiti Now telethons and rare Neil Young TV performance on Conan's final Tonight Show to the Prorogue Protests and Inglourious Basterds winning the SAG Award on Saturday to...er...ok, I didn't really pay attention on Sunday. I was busy.
So, so much music news over the weekend...
:: Classified. Is. Absolutely. AWESOME! :: Congrats to We Are The City! :: Hey, where's that Canadian INXS guy? :: Sarah McLachlan's "One Dream" is official Olympic song :: "We Are The World" to be re-done for Haiti :: Norah Jones, Heart, Loretta Lynn join Lilith :: Don't wear your top hat to a GnR show :: Ach du libre! :: And then this! Has the world gone mad?!
What did you get up to? Yes, I'm snooping. But certainly there was some news from your neck of the woods that we'd all love share. Do share. Dish.
I watched the last episode. I thought it was well done, Conan was classy about the whole thing I felt.
Good Morning!
Holy Cow! How am I supposed to take all that in?!! I might have to use my brain for this.
Anyways, my weekend was pretty good but largely uneventful.
Who knew there was that much SAG in Hollywood?
Hell yes!
• We had a family interview for a temporary daycare spot on Friday night for my wife's in-home daycare, so I had to be on my best behaviour, the house had to be cleaned to DEFCON 5.
• Saturday was a mixture of my daughter's tap/ballet/gymnastics class, then her first haircut ever, and then her first time ever ice skating
• And Sunday was her 3rd Birthday party with all our family jammed into our house.
Yah. It was a kinda busy weekend.
Picked up tickets for Basia Bulat and Owen Pallett.
Also spend Saturday afternoon making model torsion catapults out of items I found at my office. Oops, my nerd is showing a bit.
It's Rabbie Burns day today! Thats exciting. Its going to be a long day at school for me today, so a scotch or two with and after dinner will be well deserved. Even if we're having chicken, and not haggis.
My wife's entire family are huge Vikings fans, with them being from Thunder Bay and all and Thunder Bay's close proximity to Minnesota, so I am sure that they are all not too pleased. Farve screws them again.
Finally, the heavens have opened up and pooped snow. Its going to be a messy day out there.
Music PEI Awards, Showcases, and Party. Grant was also here, and gave the keynote workshop for artists on how to be the best at your live show. mynameismoe and I got to hang out with Grant, we all got to see a ton of the best that PEI has to offer in music. The After Party rocked, the After After Party was crazy.
So big news, Catherine MacLellan won 4 awards, Haunted Hearts won a couple, as did The Grass Mountain Hobos, and a bunch more. See here for the full list!
We had an awesome weekend. Can't wait to hear what Grant has to say about it.
Martin
"model torsion catapults".
Hi-o?
including:
1. cross-country skiing with moon, cheese, hungarian sausage, wine and friends.
2. prorogue protest on Parliament Hill! highlight: the little guy from The Arrogant Worms singing a song written just for the protest, and then The Beaver. Jack Layton and Elizabeth May were also stirring, as were many other speakers.
3. a play at Ottawa Little Theatre
4. baking bread
5. tried to find the file to download for The Mountains and The Trees singalong thing but couldn't find it/figure it out. Will try harder this week.
For a third year design project, we had to make Trebuchets. We made ours out of carbon fibre, because low weight was rewarded, but it ended up not working. It did look really nice though.
Okay this article has nothing to do with music, but a woman stumbling and nearly destroying a painting of an acrobat has a certain irony to it.
I wasn't quite ambitious enough to tackle one of those seriously. The deadliest thing I was able to make was an empty pen tube with a rubber band around it that could shoot the ink cartridge out with some serious speed.
I had an awesome weekend, full of what my French friends call «totally Canadian activities»:
-snow tubing in Tremblant
-skating
-polar bear dip
-charades by the fire
Winter is here for another four months, so why not embrace it ?
I found it odd that they let people close enough to priceless works of art to be able to FALL on them.
I am proud to say, I saw that painting before the rip.
Now, it should just be hosed down with beluga caviar, by the skeletal remains of giant ground sloth.
By Leno.
I'm glad somebody made that joke!
Next somebody will smear the Mona Lisa by sneezing on it. Sneeze guards at museums should be a must.
I've never tasted polar bear dip. Is it good?
You can, at The Met, get close enough to art to be totally let down by things like van Gogh's self portrait. The thing is like a postage stamp – a 6" in tear would rip the think in half.
it's a little gamey, and heavy on PCBs. but other than that, pretty good.
When did Dairy Queen stop offering this for their soft serve cones?
I had an incredibly lazy weekend. And it is now being extended thanks to the storm we had last night. Everything is closed in Regtown, not even buses are running. I've never had a snow day in my life so I am very excited! But I will be wasting my first ever Snow Day working from home. wamp wamp.
Around the same time they started to sell Canada Goose Burgers. It's all part of their "Eat Canadian" promotion.
I wish more cities subscribed to the "shut 'r down" school of thought when snow or inclement weather strikes.
No, most cities and people (like me) risk their lives trying to get to work! Ridiculous. Enjoy your snow day!!
I like Dairy Queen's "Spicy Swan Sandwich".
So that's where Stratfords swans disappeared to.
Not really. Lots of school.
This morning I woke up to the world theme of pokemon because I fell asleep with my DS on my face.
it is POURING RAIN in Ottawa. I do NOT approve. give me -30 and a snow storm any day. please!!!! at least it's warm enough that the sidewalks aren't too slippery. last night, the sidewalks were treacherous.
Man, in charlottetown it doesn't matter if hell itself has come or if you can even see your own nose. Every other thing on this Island may be under 10 feet of snow but BY GOD UPEI WILL OPEN.
So, so many euphemisms.
Yeah we're getting the same weather today too and I concur with you sentiment. It's horrible!
In a bout 3-4 hours, you'll get snow.
You know they just don't put enough wild bird meat into sandwiches these days.
I agree, we need more game-burgers.
Snow day Reginian checking in. I played three gigs around town over the weekend and got stuck at least 3 times! Thankfully everyone is being pretty helpful and pushing people out when they need the help.
I wasn't aware today was a snow day in Regina? lol. I had to get my son to school to write his finals and I am at work. Other family members were off to there usual places. My father would not miss his curling for much. It is a little crazy out there, people gettting stuck all over the place. I saw more of my neighbors outside shoveling and pushing than ever yesterday. It was almost fun.
I remember saying to some friends the day Aerosmith announced Steven Tyler was leaving the band that "I wonder how long until they make an audition show like INXS!" it was only a matter of time I see. *boo*
last I heard, the dude that was selected for INXS was later kicked out of the band for drug use (understandably, the rest of the band members have zero tolerance for it) and is living out of his car somewheres. he had "loser" written all over his face... too bad they made the mistake of selecting him. I also believe they ended up bringing in the guy that was runner up... I need to google this!
see martins comment [07] for a run down of my weekend. i'm still exhausted.
pei music news. martin said the awesome stuff. so i'll mention: two hours traffic walked away with 0 (yes, zero) awards. i think that was the biggest surprise of the whole awards show. i'm still sort of in shock.
regardless, it was a fantastic show with so many deserving artists walking away with recognition, and it's not all about who wins. i'm pretty proud to call pei my home. i'm so glad that grant was able to get a good view of what we have to offer musically. radio 3 barely gets a taste of it.
I knew there was something wrong with this guy from the get go. Any man who doesn't like top hats and the class and sophistication they bring must have something wrong with them.
Who needs Slash top hats when you can wear an Axl Rose fake plastic beer gut?
As for what I got up to this weekend tried to see Woodpigeon on Friday but failed because tickets were sold out and it was too cold to stand in line in hopes of no shows. Then on Saturday I went on a bachelor party and I think I need a new liver. Also on the bachelor party note we went to one establishment with dancers and I have come to the conclusion that dancers must make very little money as all of them can only seem to afford really poorly made clothing which was constantly breaking and falling off. However true professionals I must say they carried on with there performances even with all the garment issues. Then on Sunday I attempted to go to the climbing gym and manged to not get up any route that I triedl.
How long does a (previously given) thumbs up remain, for a given song? 24 hours? I wanted to use it on Love Is a Dirty Word, but couldn't. Oh waily, waily, waily! *
*Anyone recognise?
no, I don't recognize it, but I'm going to guess some character from Merry Melodies, maybe Tweety Bird????????? how far off am I?
my impression on the thumbs-upping is that it stays forever.
(It's small, so big words are necessary.)
The craigbreaks aren't being listed; whether that's intentional or not...
Sounds so dirty.
for the "thumbs up opinion".
I'll leave my question open for now, not to spoil it for another listener.
Don't let me forget!
actually, it appears <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/INXS">INXS</a> is currently sans lead singer after some shuffling around post <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._D._Fortune">J.D. Fortune</a>, but have been working with Brandon Flowers, Rob Thomas, and Snow Patrol. (interesting!)
as far as my weekend went... I managed to keep busy with running errands, housecleaning, a meeting about roller derby bouts for the 2010 season (<a href="http://www.myspace.com/tricityrollergirls">TCRG</a>), and taking my dog to the dogpark. Oh, yeah... and the ever important afternoon nap! :)
Well, it all depends on the context, doesn't it? The context which each of us supplies.
IOW, you got a dirty mind! ;)
hey kids and kats,
did anyone else try to find and download the file for this fun venture? i tried, and got caught in a myspace spiral... could not actually get to the website that was indicated as having the file there for download... do I just need to try harder? Princefarming, how did you find the file?
fek. that didn't work. why no "delete" option? argh.
...books.
Explanation soon. (No one else is manifesting.)
I've found an excellent piece of background, if way too long, in a Wiki article. This because I suspect you really don't know, and the answer involves big fun so I wanna clue you in.
Very famous books in some circles -- "immature" males in particular, I suspect.
Craigbreak now showing.
ha--yeah. you found the INXS answer before i could join in. Marty Casey (the runner up) smartly took advantage of the exposure opening for INXS got him on that tour & continues to work his own band, the Lovehammers.
i actually like him & was pretty thrilled he didn't win. he's a hometown boy here in Chicago. he works pretty regularly
well, i was wondering if it was Smeegol/Gollum from the Lord of the Rings and your hint above makes that seem possible, but really, I have absotively no clue.
I was able to download the file last week.
My kids and I spent some time practicing but the boys haven't been able to settle down enough to record a nice track yet. We might have to leave out the 5 yr old as he seems to be having the most trouble.
The Pants on the Ground guy should audition for Aerosmith.
You'll note that most art pieces are exhibited without physical restraints, stanchions and cord, or godforbid a glass case.
Exceptions are extremely high value ones that obviously require increased security.
The thing is, you do want people to be able to see works close up.
Is that anything like Body Break?
hmm, seems if i follow the detailed instructions from Jon Janes on Craig's blog last Wednesday, all will be well. trying to follow the link on his Myspace page did not work for me.
this should help you ;) I hadn't heard about this yet, but what a great idea! (located this on fb of all places....)
How To Play On A Mountains & Trees Album (or how not to make a million dollars, but enjoy it just the same)
The Mountains & The Trees are recording a new album (to be released later this year) and there are several ways to play on said album:
#1 - Be The Mountains & The Trees (I just checked - that’s not you)
#2 - Be part of the Valleys & Seas Orchestra that often accompanies The Mountains & The Trees (there’s a chance this is you, but if not, read on)
#3 - Be you (the most likely scenario)
That’s right, *anybody* can be on the new Mountains & Trees album. All it takes is a few simple steps:
#1 - Go to https://download.yousendit.com/TzY1ZFhqb0JGOFJMWEE9PQ and download the .WAV file (”New Song (La La La Section) DEMO” or something like that)
#2 - Load it into your favorite program (Garageband, ProTools, Adobe, etc) and make a recording of yourself singing along to the “La Da Da DaDa Da” section (make sure it’s as high a quality as it can be - it’ll have to be for the end result)
#3 - Save the part of just yourself singing as a high-quality (VERY important) .WAV file and use http://www.yousendit.com to send the file back to info@themountainsandthetrees.com. Make sure to include your name/where-you’re-from in the e-mail!
That’s about it! If the file is of good quality, we’ll put it together along with the others and the local ones and make a chorus out of it. Bada bing, bada bang, bada boom, you’re on a Mountains & Trees album!
So what have we learned from all this? #1 - It’s easy to get on a Mountains & Trees album #2 - I like making lists with 3 different points #3 - ... Any questions, comments, concerns, compliments, or snide remarks can be sent to info@themountainsandthetrees.com.
well, let's check the checklist:
wholesome fun? friendly advice? toothy smiles? best in Mom and Dad sports fashions from 1992?
I'd say Craigbreaks are a whole lot like Body Break.
It's Terry Pratchett's Wee Free Men, the Nac Mac Feegle of their proper clan name. When saddened or reprimanded, they may well go "waily waily waily". Oh, they're six inches tall, cryptoscots and blue.
See this. (Article is long but worth reading if you know or don't know them, I think.)
Terruy Pratchett is a demigod. The funniest of writers.
I wanted Marty to win (never liked J.D.), but guess it was a blessing in disguise that he didn't. good to hear what he's up to these days... thanks!
"best in Mom and Dad sports fashions from 1992"
Uh...you know I read these comments, right?
Well Craig does look spiffy in a wind breaker and track pants.
you're very welcome :)
Needs a thick moustache to compete with the old Body Break commercials.
I thought it was Wee Free men, but didn't get here in time to say so.
I dunno about "immature males" being the main audience; Discworld is fairly sophisticated, with a lot more/better female characters than some series. I could be wrong though; I can't seem to find any surveys or anything online.
You're COLD!! Joanne McLeod's moustache wasn't that thick!
Oh.
Handsome Furs followed by Japandroids? This sounds eerily like my apartment.
It was actually a secret swingers society that Hal and Joanne organized and sent coded messages to their members with the TV segments.
Keep lit and have rum!
Found an interview with some numbers. Unfortunately, it's from 1994. But at that time, over half Terry Pratchett's fan mail was from women and girls, with the largest part being from "women of a certain age."
I'm thinking you're right! I'm also thinking Devendra Banhart knew it too...
"The body breaks and the body is fineI'm open to yours and I'm open to mine The body aches and that ache takes it time But you'll get over yours and I'll get over mine And the sun will shine And the moon will rise The body calls Yeah the body it calls out It whispers at first but it ends with a shout The body burns Yeah the body burns strong Until mine is with yours Then mine will burn on My flesh sings out It sings come put me out The body sways like the wind on a swing A bridge through a hoop Or a lake through a ring The body stays and then the body moves on And I'd really rather not dwell on when yours will be gone But within the dark There is a shine One tiny spark That's yours and mine."
I thought Conan was very classy - and loved his rock-out to Free Bird. I miss him already.
My weekend was nutty:
- Canada for Haiti taping, then a drink with friends to discuss
- a bridal show (always a maid of honour, never a bride ha)
- a surprise 11:30pm drink at local pub where a guy sits with his iTunes and plays us Canadian indie music if we ask
- a too-early Interior Design show that was enh
- a big breakfast-for-lunch that was yummy and a most ownderful surprise idea
- my first floor hockey game of the season (got to hear my favourite words: "geez" when they can't get around my awesome defense)
There are just limited services available to the people who live in a city that's been hit by a storm.
amazingly, U of R cancelled classes today, although the U of S didn't up here in Toontown.
Toontown has limited transit services running today, I think, but their website's been dead since last night. I know last night there were 4 modified routes running, only on major roads between the big malls and downtown.
High school kids are evidently writing departmentals, which of course didn't get cancelled, so people are venturing forth despite the radio saying "stay at home if you can"
So, Craig, don't be too impressed by the mention of a "snow day" It's more what people are doing individually. I tried walking because I'm nowhere near any of the malls that have bus service. I realized after a couple of minutes that it was going to be a long haul (and there' s no guarantee transit will be up by day's end, so I might have to hike home), so I came home and am working from here.
This is a good time to catch up and clean up the thousands of emails in my inbox...
Interesting interview. Pratchett doesn't completely upset the imagined demographic, despite trying, as he admits, I think.
Nevertheless, I defer to his experience.
this weekend I was at a permaculture design course. It was great fun trying to get there and back yesterday in the snow! but it was very interesting and informative.
I also watched "One Week" starring that other guy from Dawson's Creek (Joshua Jackson), along with Gord Downie, Joel Plaskett and Emm Gryner. It was a very good movie - highly recommend if you haven't seen it. Was entertaining and made you think, plus it had great scenery and music.
I'm not all tits and lipstick. I'm pretty smrt too. I can pretty much uncover every conspiracy going like a band of meddling teenagers and their dog that travel in a 1968 Dodge Fargo A100 Van - which coincidentally was the same vehicle Hal & Joanne (or HJ as they were know in the swinger circles) used to hold some of their "meetings" in the back of.
p.s. Hal is a former pro baseball player. Sam Malone was too. Both have wicked hair. Ever see Sam Malone in the same room as Hal and his mustache? Just saying.
in the 1994 interview referenced above:
"The point is, (...) kids in England now suffer from this terrible ersatz Americanism, so they walk around trying to look like a kid from South Central (L.A.). What the hell, they live in Taunton, Somerset, you know, and you can’t hang out at the shopping mall, because there’s only that silly shop, and the weather isn’t like Southern California. It’s a bit like we were in the 60’s. The 60’s only happened to about 250 people in London, everyone else pretended they were there as well." (My bolds)
Fun. Sharp.
Yeah, it wasn't the most solid data ever. It would be interesting to see more accurate (and recent) data. But I don't know if anyone tracks demographics for fiction in detail; I've never seen a literary equivalent of a Neilsen survey. Maybe e-books will make it easier to collect such data in the future.
I booked my ticket to Ireland!! I will be leaving Feb 26th! I'm so excited!
Coincidentally saw and met Emm at the Help Haiti Benefit here in town at The Aeolian Hall last Thursday. I told my wife: "Emm is playing it - she's that girl in One Week that was out walking in the woods in Banff"
This the same girl that Dave Bowie championed, and had her play on tour with as a backup singer. And she's this crazy beautiful, totally nice person. Who is eight months pregnant - which for those who have seen the movie One Week, know is kind of funny.
!!!!!!
and !!! And today's the 25th, only a month and a day!
The pregnant girl he was kissing allatime, a wonderful touch! So Southern!
cool! good for her.
and, who has a song that that singer guy from U2 who thinks there should be more controls around the electronic music world also said he wished he'd written.
I'd love to see her live but the last time she came through town it didn't work out - as usually happens right now with my life. thank god for music festivals, where I can drag the kids along whether they like it or not!
Now, if she's 8 months pregnant, she won't be on tour for a bit.
One of these days I'm going to go to her website and ask why Asian Blue isn't available on Zunior.com. It's one album I'd really like to pick up
You're right!!!!! yeah!! Now I'm double excited. I think with each week that passes, my excitement will keep doubling until I burst with happiness on the day of. :) hehe
So I take it that you're really not 'following the sun' then.
Lee
Downloaded M&T's sing a long thing too and started practicing but didn't actually get around to recording.
Played geetar a ton after finding a bunch of great backing tracks on Youtube. Little Eric Johnson. A little Steve Vai. But there's almost no Van Halen, bummer! Guess I should probably make my own but that's less time I can spend practicing the singing for M&T.
Watched a lot of football.
Just found out my pal Shaun is flying out from LA to Halifax to play Friday night at In The Dead Of Winter. Do I know any Halifaxers? I should go and encourage people to see him play but he's scheduled at the same time as Bahamas and right before John K. and Melissa M. play their sets, which might be a hard sell. Wait, forget I said that. Go see my pal Shaun play at Fred Friday night! Yay!!
I believe that was his real-life wife. I think...
"Your little heart will assplode!"
Didn't do much. Bought potatoes and sausage at the farmer's market on Saturday; wanted some salad cucumbers from a local greenhouse, but they were a bit soft, so I skipped them. Spent the rest of the day goofing off.
Sunday, meant to go to church, but I left late and missed the bus. I did get some cleaning done, and I cut out a skirt that I bought fabric for ages ago. Now I just need to find the interfacing I bought (or buy more, it's cheap).
Didn't read all the apartment buying–related stuff I need to read for tomorrow, so I guess that's what I'll be doing tonight.
Haven't downloaded the TM&TT track yet, but it's definitely on my to-do list.
Between that and FAWM/RPM, I'm thinking I should buy a mic for my laptop. Does anyone have any recommendations?
You are right, it was his real life wife, and she really is pregnant.
I bought farmer's sausage this weekend, too. At the St. Jacob's Farmers Market here in Ontario!
That's really not that interesting, I know.
Well looking at today's weather... i"d love to follow the sun... but by the end of Feb... I might ob for some green grass and rain. One day though... one day.
assplode! Love it!
Actually, I bought bratwurst. From a farmer. So farmer's sausage in one sense, but not, you know, farmer's sausage.
Still not that interesting.
I have a Rode NT1 I love. They make a USB mic called a Podcaster which might be worth checking out. Not sure how expensive it is.
1.) I saw the classified Video on Much Music by accident on the weekend, I thought it was a nice little song he has there. It’s not really my type of music but it was good and it made me a little more happy to be Canadian, more than usual I guess.
2.) That is really great that We Are The City won such a nice prize.
3.) Aerosmith holding auditions for replacement singer is something I truly have no cares what so ever for..I hate reality shows..unless it is an actual reality show..I do believe they are called documentaries.
4.) You don’t even want me to begin to start with my stance on the Olympics…I don’t feel like arguing with anyone..so I will stay silent on that topic and all that has to do with it.
5.) We Are The World, reminds me of being a kid in the 80’s soooo much, like all those colab.’s for charity that were put out in the 80’s.The 80’s were also notorious for P.S.A’s, and even turning your favourite show’s episodes into P.S.A.’s. Like The Fact’s of Life and my favourite episode of Punky Brewster, when Cherry was stuck in the old fridge that was put outside for garbage and many, many more.
6.) I am kind of feeling meh about Lilith Fair. I was dragged to one of the original shows back in high school. I love Loretta Lynn so that makes Lilith Fair in my eyes that much better now.
7.) Axl Rose is just plain crazy! I mean he always was I suppose but he's even more nuts now! Like I can’t believe he can eve get away with that? It’s bonkers!
8.) Ohh no Brad and Angie are splitting? What are we ever going to do with ourselves? I have no use for tabloids. I don’t care about “stars”, personal life. Like, no one is waiting outside my door to see What Typhani and Justin are going to wear grocery shopping. (Justin&Typhani=my b/f and I ) and I mean I don’t blame anyone for not caring about those little Il-important things in my life, because really people we should not let it keep us up at night that someone you will never meet or who doesn’t even know you exsist is maybe breaking it off with their husband or if they didn’t tip the waiter or they look bad with out make-up.
Ok….sorry. I have had no coffee today. I am trying to quit smoking, thus I am trying to not drink coffee in hopes that will slightly curb my smoking addiction. I do sound really angry in this post..but I am not..just tried. Sorry for being a complain-y pants downer.
Hope you all had great weekends!!
well, i'm not in Halifax. but my good buddy Dave Celia is playing the fest too. tell your Shaun to be on the look out & go say hi. Davey loves a good jam
I'm willing to bet that you and I are on the same page vis a vis the olympics.
That's cool. Dave has the same time slot and venue one day after Shaun. I'll pass the word along.
Does not, from the article, appear to be planning a reality show.
The article says that they've already talked to some singers that they know are good, and their planned audition process will just be seeing who they get along with.
The reality show joke in Craig's post is just a reality show joke.
(I don't actually care who Aerosmith's singer is, but I thought I'd point this out)
I have a Blue Snowball USB mic, that I used to do my year-end mixtape podcast with that I think is pretty great in terms of cost vs. use. I plan on using it for my contribution to the TM&TT track.
I know it's not the Olympics... but I saw Blades of Glory again this weekend. I don't want to ruin it for anyone who hasn't seen the film but for those who have, that one scene, you know the one I'm talking about(?), one of the best and most shocking sight gags I've ever seen. So funny!! Right up there with that one thing in Tropic Thunder.
ohh good! It feels nice to know that I have a few on my side. I have an office full of ladies that love to bring it up with me on a daily basis. It's like we are never going to agree so why even fight about it when we can talk about something else. Yes...the Olympics is umm how do you say? ummm not good...yes not good, i'm trying to be a nice as possible so not to start any "discussions", due to my hating of talking about why I am not for the Olympics everyday with the woman I work with.
Hi Everyone!
What's this about a snowday? I didn't think we had snowdays in Canada unless you lived in the country and the school bus couldn't get you. But if we did get them, I think today should qualify as one, even in the city. Got to class half an hour late, and had to leave half an hour early so I could get to work on time!
That being said, we can't be hardy Canadians all the time... I was supposed to go see Colin James with my aunt on Saturday but the blizzard warning had her staying in Portage La Prairie instead of driving into Winnipeg. Boo. So Radiohead took her place, and we both agree, Colin James kills at doing the blues!
I have similar feelings about the Olympics. I theory they are great idea, but I find the IOC to be just a sham organization lacking any real integrity.
None of my business, but I've never known anyone to kick smoking cigarettes when saying they're "trying" to quit. Shows a lack of firm resolve, if you'll allow me.
I smoked cigarettes for some 19 years before stopping, a longer time ago. I only stopped when I was certain I wanted to quit once and for all. Otherwise, it's playing games with oneself. Give it some thought...
If you're really resolved, I can pass on a simple rule that I used to make sure it works.
really?! so when I was thinking, "allright, Pacey (sp?) gets to sleep with Emm Gryner!" it really wasn't any big deal to him, 'cept for the cameras being around?
I learned something new today.
I suppose I jumped the gun on that one..I would just assume that would be the next step with how things are these days. It would boost sales to make it into a reality show type try out for the band. either way, I looked it over in haste I suppose. opps!
need to check out this place. ok, so mostly they do weird things to chicken sausage. but they do have Duck Fat Fries & one of today's specials is Elk Sausage.
i may need to be a carnivore after work. & i blame you all.....
Hot Dougs (best motto ever, btw)
Good point! I quit!
I would love any knowledge that would help me be successful in quitting. Thank you!
did you do the new Westwood website? I like it! I didn't know you could do a drop menu using only stylesheets - always thought javascript had to be involved.
If I can't convince UCSaskatoon to go with a CMS site I may have to redesign based on some of the coding on Westwood.
I don't think you were the first one to get on the reality show bus.
Good luck with the smoking; I know that's a hard thing to quit.
...owns the Olympic Games, and has long been determined to market them the American way. T.v., and lawsuits to protect its commercial marks.
Too bad they're also the top proamateur* competitions, and that so many athletes are, understandably, completely starry-eyed and intent on doing their level best. A built-in contradiction.
...be doing a better show, it can't really be helped!
wasn't very exciting, but I am ok with that. Played World of Warcraft (yes that's right, I am one of those people), went to a couple places looking for Warhammer stuff with my son (he is one of those people hehe), went and saw Avatar 3D. Sunday was a bit more World of Warcraft, and lots of shoveling and pushing vehicles. I feel this may have revealed too much about my boring life.

The CSS menu trick has been around for ages, but it used to use javascript on IE because IE didn't support :hover on anything but links. I don't know if that's been fixed, or if the menu is all links, or what. To see the original version of the trick, google "suckerfish dropdowns".
Is that Vish and Pedro?
Typing out some stuff on Word. Will plonk it down later, I suppose in Grant's weblog (heh).

What I have is a simple method to overcome that.
Congratulations on the decision!
It is Monday, so being outta sorts is pretty much traditional, isn't it?
it looked like there's separate CSS code needed for IE, but no javascript. I run noscript and had the Westwood site disabled, but still had functioning menus
