Is it episode #2 already? (I
promise not to write this every week.)
But seriously, it does my heart
well to know we are well and truly making Extended Play, Radio 3’s first non-music
podcast featuring ideas and interviews.
On this episode we ask: Has
Technology Made Music Better? If you’ve had a chance to take in the new
guitar-geek doc It Might Get Loud, you’ll know that Jack White certainly has an
answer, and it’s no.
But we check in with some other
folks, and their thoughts may surprise you. By way of the magic of radio, you’ll
hear a discussion on how technology has affected music with legendary musician and songwriter Buffy Saint-Marie
and The Russian Futurist Matthew Adam Hart.
Buffy is a self-taught musician who was one of the first adopters of computers for her music, while Matthew has only ever known a time with technology and does not play any traditional instruments. I was there to moderate the
chat, but really – these two just took off and it was a real pleasure to be a
part of their conversation.
If you have any
comments or feedback I’d love to hear from you.
