You may recognize the name Eddie Orso from the now-defunct Revival Dear. After they disbanded, Eddie went on to record a solo EP with Derek Downham (plays/played with almost everyone) in the producer's chair. He even enlisted the talents of Lisa Lobsinger (Broken Social Scene) and extraordinary guitar man, Luke Doucet!
Now, the He Said/She Said EP is set to be released on February 23rd and Eddie is graciously streaming the entire thing on his profile page!
You will, I'm sure, go and listen to it. Sure, if you liked Revival Dear, there's something in these songs for you. But there seems to be a lot more. And a lot less, actually. And "less" in this instance is not a bad thing. It's a very good thing. The songs seem unapologetically straight-ahead - almost Tom Petty-esque - but there are really nice twists and turns both lyrically and in the chord progressions.
No doubt it's daunting to leave the framework of a band and carve your own path..under your own name...but I think Eddie has nothing to fear.
