Calgary's heralded, weirdly wonderful singer-songwriter Chad VanGaalen has been growing something in his basement.

Chad has announced that he is temporarily diverting from his string of successful oddball pop albums into a world of wildy diverse electronic, experimental instrumental music.

The alter-ego is called Black Mold.

On August 11th, Chad's label Flemish Eye Records will release the debut album of Black Mold called Snow Blindness Is Crystal Antz. The record is a reportedly a product of many late nights of experimenting on homemade analogue and hand-built modular synths, resulting in a glitchy, unpredictable palette of noise married with the familiar ring of acoustic instruments.
