February 24, 2009 marks the official release of Troubadour the latest album by Somali born / Toronto based artist K'naan. In addition to his notoriety as a poet, rapper and storyteller, K'naan is also this month's X3 feature artist of the month - and you're about to find out why.

In this CBC Radio 3 Session we present K'naan recorded live at The Mod Club in Toronto on the day of his record release. Like a troubadour's journey, this performance showcases the range in K'naan's music building from the very first song performed on an acoustic guitar to the spirited and spiritual energy of songs like "Soobax" and "ABC's".

As you'll hear, his songs are energetic, political and pleasing to your dusty dancing shoes all at once. Plus, you can check out the photos HERE.

The live show was hosted by Radio 3's eloquent Vish Khanna who also joins me in this podcast for some insightful reflections on the evening's events.
