Venue:

Aeolian Hall

Location:
London, Ontario

How Long has the Club Been Open:
5 years

Why It Should Win Searchlight:
The Aeolian is a remarkable designated Heritage Site (1883) with legendary acoustics and ambiance.  Its programming has included every musical genre and performers like Harry Manx and Martin Tielli rave about it and come back to perform here regularly.  The Aeolian is an unusual model for a club.  Although it is privately owned, it is run primarily by at least 100 volunteers who are committed to the role this venue continues to play in creating a connecting point for the arts scene in London.

Five Of The Best Bands That Have Played The Club:
Daniel Lanois, Ron Sexsmith, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Great Lakes Swimmers, Hawksley Workman

One Of The Most Memorable Moments:
As I am a classical pianist, playing classical music (Debussy) for the Dhoad Gypsies of Rajasthan (India) during a post concert jam session is pretty unforgettable.

A Little-Known Fact about Your Club:
The ghost of the former owner hangs around and has spooked a few of the performers in the same place on the stage.

Your Secret To Success:
Our success is partly due to the Aeolian's beautiful and unique acoustics and aesthetics, but mostly due to the hard work of the management team and volunteers.

What You Would Do To Celebrate If You Win:
We will throw a huge party for all of the supporters of the hall including food and of course, music!
