Ex-Beatle
Sir Paul McCartney has chosen Montreal rockers
the Stills as the opening act for his landmark show in Quebec City on
July 20.
The free show, which is set to take place on the historic
Plains of Abraham in the heart of the city, is part of
Quebec's 400th Anniversary celebrations, and is expected to draw over 200,000 fans.
"We are completely honored, blown totally 100% away," said Stills singer and guitarist
Tim Fletcher, who calls McCartney
The Great Godfather Of Our Unbelievable Musical Realm, via the
Arts&Crafts website.
"His influence on our own music is
incalculable and profound and his songs have been stuck in our heads
since we were just tiny little beings developing in our mothers' wombs.
It will be a beautiful night to remember for all times."
The Stills are also gearing up for the release of their third full-length,
Oceans Will Rise, on August 19.
"We are excited as all hell, because we shall be your guides and
torch-lights over high waters and even higher states of mind," says the band via their MySpace site. "Your
guides and warriors. We fight for you, with you."
