I agree with John Paolozzi - the complete lack of context makes this "interview" seem like more of an angry rant. Just imagine if there was a real interview where Chris expressed his opinions and all, but for him to reflect on his career, the history of Sloan, and his opinions of Canadian and US music. It would probably be fascinating.

Truly unfortunate. But I'm waiting for their tour to pass through San Francisco. I'll be there.

I remember the very first issue of The National Post. I didn't read the first one, but heard so much about this new newspaper that I grabbed a copy a few days later. In my copy, published the first week of its creation, there was an entertainment article about Bob Dylan. Bob was playing that night with Joni Mitchell at Toronto's Maple Leaf Gardens so the Post dedicated a quarter page column to the legendary rocker.

To my horror, I read a story that seemed so ridiculous that it left me searching for some sort of "just kidding" statement. Thank God I don't remember the "journalist's" name, but he or she was clearly just out of high school and had no idea what they were writing about.

The jist of it was that Bob Dylan was an old relic who's songs were no longer of value. They went on to disect "Blowin' in the Wind" missing the point of the metaphore completely. Line by line, verse by verse, this fool made comments like, and I paraphrase, "How many times must the cannon balls fly? What war was this? I think that was Vietnam and they weren't using cannonballs they were fighting with napalm..."

I swear I'm not kidding. The Post actually ran the piece tearing apart the classic song line by line as though it were written literally.

I think the quality of the National Post has consistently declined, and I'm surprised any rocker would give them the time of day.

Everything The National Post knows about fair and decent journalism couldn't fill a thimble and I feel sad for anyone who sat down and gave the their time to the piece on Chris.
