There is something about a great remix. It can pull you out to the dance floor, giving you one more reason to love your favourite tune. It can reinvigorate an old tired track, reminding you why you loved it in the first place. Or, it can spike the adrenalin in your veins, making you blow a corner on Need For Speed.

The remix used to be reserved for the dance floor, or as a way to get collectors to buy singles, but times have changed. Now remixes are showing up all the time, in commercials, video games and movie trailers. And sometimes the remix will become even more popular than the original song. So then, what makes a good remix?

I decided to talk to two experts Jesse Keeler of MSTRKRFT and Ghislain Poirier.

MSTRKRFT are best known for chopping up Wolfmother's classic rock-inspired tune "Woman" making it a dance party favorite. Ghislain Poirier has remixed artists like Spank Rock and Editors. Poirier is a connoisseur of underground and international styles, like grime, booty bass and raga, and he makes them accessible in his mixes.

Have a listen to what they have to say, and then tell us your favorite remix.
