Vamoose, amigos of Canadian rock!

A trio of Canada's best independent exports are currently on their way to the world-class city of Barcelona, Spain (or 'Barthelona', as the locals say). It's all part of a massive outdoor music festival called Primavera Sound.

This weekend's line up is outstanding, including the Buzzcocks, Sonic Youth, Wilco, Billy Bragg, the White Stripes, the Smashing Pumpkins, and longtime Spanish cult-favourite Jonathan Richman. The Canadian contingent includes versatile Toronto roots rockers The Sadies, Quebec breakthrough band Malajube, and Vancouver stoner-rockers Black Mountain.

Here's a clip of Black Mountain's Stephen McBean discussing Primavera.

My only advice on visiting this incredible Iberian city is hang on to your valuables. Barcelona is my pal Beez's fave city on earth, but everytime he visits he's pickpocketed. We're talking cameras, phones, wallets, wads of cash, you name, he's had it stolen in Barthelona!
