Seemingly out of nowhere, Montreal-based band
The Stills
have left the chameleonically-hip label,
Vice Records and put their third (yet
to be recorded) album in the hands of
Arts and Crafts. The departure from Vice
appears to be friendly, stating on the Stills website, "Vice fished us out of the
ocean... Without them we actually wouldn't be a band at all."
Although there is no
concrete reason for the signing,
The Stills have had friendly ties with
Arts
and Crafts and many of the bands for numerous years, sharing stages with
Broken
Social Scene last summer. Plenty of poetic reflection flowers their press
release, and to summarize it seems that the band had been going through some
unfocused years or as they refer to them, "mad, wasted, beautiful, acid
snow-globe years" and this new union has "rejuvenated" them.
The follow-up to their sophomore album "Without Feathers"
will be recorded in Montreal
and is slated to hit shelves in early spring of 2008.
