Electric Powwow is the only song on here that's anything close to a sports anthem! But is claiming this as Canada's "champthem" amount to an attempt to colonize or stake claim to Independent Aboriginal music? Don't get me wrong - it's still rad, but I bet those boys are going to laugh when they hear this one.

hotpants, I would hope not!

My reaction to Electric Pow Wow was one of the defining musical moments that hit my ears this year. I felt both the modernity and the history of life in Canada. I respect that emotion very much, and that is why I voted that way.

Okay.

Watching the Olympic swimming stream there was a crowd shot with some Canadians wearing amazing maple leaf pyjama pants. They rival Norwegian curling pants in awesome pantsness.

None of these make good 'anthem' songs. You need something that's engergetic, has clear simple lyrics that people with little or no musical talant can sing along with and remember. The closest is Stadium Love but it would have to be remixed to have the lyrics louder than the music and be sung by someone who is enthusiastic. Electric Pow wow has the energy but between the lack of lyrics and the complex beat it's hard to get a group of people joining it. The rest are all low energy songs (and an anthem song shouldn't include the words "Everything is slow").

Don't get me wrong they are all good songs but they aren't anthems.

Indeed tough choice. I had earworms after listening to them. I fnally made my decision when I kept hearing two over and over in my head. Seriously, in a stadium or at a game...you're just going to be chanting a few phrases over and over...think of 'We are the Champions, We are the Champions'....What would be more spine tingling than hearing 30/40/50 thousand people chanting 'OH CAN-ADA.......OH CAN-ADA....OH CAN-ADA'...my vote is for Classified's 'Oh Canada'.
