Corb Lund will be releasing his seventh disc, Cabin Fever, on Aug. 14 to eagerly awaiting fans. CBC Music will be leading the charge with all things Corb Lund as the street date approaches. On May 1, Lund and his band the Hurtin’ Albertans played a sneak peek show for an intimate audience at the Arden Theatre in St. Albert, Alta. That concert will become a TV show, to be aired Sept. 1, a radio concert on Canada Live on Aug. 16 and a series exclusive videos available only at CBC Music.
In keeping with the format of Cabin Fever, some songs were plugged in, rockin’ country. A select few songs were performed by Lund and his band, on the edge of the stage, with absolutely no amplification at all. In our next offering of this exclusive video series, we have “September,” plugged in with a classic country twang.
Lund has a diverse and unconventional songwriting style. In the past, he has tackled issues such as the environment, the history of the war horse, motorcycles and an expatriate South American lamenting leaving his home.
With “September,” he lends his lyrical prowess to good old-fashioned heartache. The melody is immediately hummable and the “big city girl meets country boy” story is simple and effective.
As the brand new music rolls out, it is easy to see why each disc Lund releases boosts his popularity in the Canadian and international roots music scene.
