The official start of summer is just days away, and soon we will know what song defines the summer of 2012. It’s pretty easy to determine the song of the summer: find the song that spent the most weeks on top of the Billboard Hot 100. Here are the songs of the past five summers:

2007: “Umbrella” by Rihanna featuring Jay-Z.
2008: “I Kissed a Girl” by Katy Perry.
2009: “I Gotta Feeling” by the Black Eyed Peas.
2010: “California Gurls” by Katy Perry featuring Snoop Dogg.
2011: “Party Rock Anthem” by LMFAO featuring Lauren Bennett and GoonRock.

CBC Music has a powerful computer that has analyzed the songs of the summer for the past 50 years. It also uses a complex algorithm to make predictions about future songs of the summer. Based on those predictions, here are the songs of the summer for the next 20 years.
