Tanya Birkbeck, who produces Cinq à Six out of CBC Montreal, called my attention to a recording of the Montreal X Factor panel discussion hosted by Cinq à Six host Jeanette Kelly, which took place during the Blue Metropolis Montreal International Literary Festival last week.
Panelists Raymond Beauchemin, Lucinda Catchlove, Alan Lord and Dimitri Nasrallah were invited to identify the qualities that make Montreal such a musical powerhouse. Theories ranged from the cultural mix to government support and affordable housing for artists.
Interestingly, most of the discussion centred on electronic music. Listen here.
